THE SECRETS OF FOUNDER JESSICA LEMARIÉ-PIRES’ BEAUTY CUPBOARD

March 2nd, 2017

Making small, impactful changes is a great way to start… I know how intimidating it can be though, so sometimes it’s easier to start by introducing new products in with old favourites. This is how my beauty cabinet looked when I started my journey.

Making small, impactful changes is a great way to start… I know how intimidating it can be though, so sometimes it’s easier to start by introducing new products in with old favourites. This is how my beauty cabinet looked when I started my journey.

A bathroom cabinet is often an illusive, mysterious & very personal space – a carefully curated selection of products and tricks to enhance, cover or cure any skin, hair or body dilemma you might be faced with.

Here, Brand Founder, Style Influencer and Beauty Tastemaker, Jessica Lemarié-Pires, opens the doors to hers (literally), as she shares with you the secrets of her bathroom cabinet…

“When I altered my lifestyle four years ago, I had to completely strip back my beauty cabinet and start from scratch. It was terrifying. I had no idea where to begin.”

The birth of her three children prompted Jessica to take a more conscious, mindful, approach to life, which considered and respected personal health and wellbeing.

“I never realised how easily the products that I was putting on my skin and hair were penetrating and absorbing. As soon as I became aware of all of the toxins and synthetic chemicals that I was putting into my body, I knew that it was time for change. Ever since, I have been trying and testing all of the latest and greatest natural and organic products on the market.”

Tata Harper was one of the first brands that I came across in my search for natural skincare and has been a staple in my bathroom beauty cabinet ever since. I’ve spoken about it before, but The Boosted Contouring Serum really is one of my every day essentials. I put it on in the morning, after I’ve showered and exfoliated my face with NUDE Brightening Fizzy Powder Wash; this combo always leaves my face feeling instantly tighter and looking brighter. I shower every morning and wash my hair about twice a week with Onira Organics, of course – I use The Natural Shampoo & The Conditioner. My hair routine is pretty low-key, after I’ve washed it, I just squeeze out the excess water and leave my hair to air dry naturally.”

One of Jessica’s fundamentals in her beauty routine is to brush her teeth, and tongue, really well. “Mouth hygiene and health is super important – people often brush their teeth but forget about their tongue. I make sure to brush and cleanse my entire mouth at least twice a day. I’m still yet to find a really good natural toothpaste, that leaves my mouth feeling clean and fresh, though! I will keep you updated if I ever manage to find one.”

“NUXE is another brand that seems to have cemented itself in my beauty cabinet – from body moisturisers and sun protectors, to nourishing lip balms, for me, NUXE always delivers.”

“I don’t really wear make-up, unless it’s a special occasion. Day-to-day, the most you’ll get from me is normally a layer of RMS Mascara and a smudge of Living Luminizer Highlighter. I love RMS Beauty because I don’t feel like I’m compromising on quality or impact because of my health philosophy; if you want a vibrant lip or cheek stain that lasts, or an intense, smudgy eye shadow to create your signature smoky eye – RMS never fails.”

“At the end of a long, busy day, I absolutely swear by CAUDALIE cleansers. They feel so gentle but never leave any trace of make-up or dirt behind; plus they smell great!”

Jessica’s beauty cabinet is still lacking in something though… “One day, I’d absolutely love to create my own range of natural & organic perfumes; it’s one area that I’m struggling with. Natural and organic beauty is still quite a new concept for many people, and while there are a lot of other women, like myself, pioneering the way, fragrance still seems to be a few steps behind. For the most part, the transition to non-toxic, green beauty products has been pretty easy and effortless for me, but I think that a scent is so personal and specific – it’s definitely worth hunting around until you find yours.”

This is now how my beauty cabinet looks today. Fewer products? Definitely. Missing out? Not at all. Sometimes less really is more.
